Root Characterization of Myanmar Upland and Lowland Rice in Relation to Agronomic and Physiological Traits under Drought Stress Condition

Lowland and upland rice are the two most important ecotypes grown under different ecosystems of contrasting soil water conditions. The study aimed to characterize root morphological, anatomical, architectural traits shoot physiological related agronomic in Myanmar lowland drought Drought experiments were conducted field greenhouse. reduction was observed both except for stele xylem area. Stele area increased while decreased not changed A positive relationship between including total number nodal roots, per tiller, a negative lateral density more than anatomical traits. While illustrated In addition, contribution biomass by photosynthesis rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate rice. These findings can help improve tolerance selecting optimal trait each ecosystem.
